My philosophy as a sleep trainer

Fort Collins Baby Sleep Consultant

MY SLEEP PHILOSOPHY

I strongly believe that the cornerstone of our health, adults, and children, is quality sleep.  A well-rested child is happy, full of energy, playful, and eager to learn and develop. Parents are happier, more rested, and able to give their best to their family, employer, and friends on a daily basis.  Marriages and relationships improve, and parents can take back their evenings, without the dread of bedtime and another sleepless night.

PARTNERSHIP AND SUPPORT

When a client decides that I’m the right fit for their family, our partnership begins.  Unlike online sleep consulting programs, I seek to build mutual trust with your family so we can be honest and open through this process.  I pride myself on the high level of support that I provide each of my clients.  I truly believe that support is what sets me apart from any other book, consultant, or online program.

Above all else, I was a mom before I was a sleep consultant. My compassion and empathy run deep because I’m in this with you. Truly, there is no better choice for support than someone who has been there and gone before you. I got ya, mama.

MY APPROACH TO IMPROVING YOUR CHILD’S SLEEP IS  pretty simple:

MY ADVICE WILL ALWAYS BE HONEST AND STRAIGHTFORWARD

The advice I give is based upon evidence-based studies and research, as well as my extensive training.  I’m constantly expanding my knowledge and continuing my education, so I can offer parents the most up-to-date information out there on topics such as breastfeeding, AAP safe sleeping standards, sleep related health problems, anxiety in children, and parent-child attachment.

I GIVE EASY TO FOLLOW, STEP-BY-STEP PLANS THAT ADDRESS ALL SLEEP SITUATIONS

You will never feel like you’re in the dark and don’t know what to do.  There is nothing worse than buying a sleep book and two days in, your baby does something that isn’t in the book. What now?

We will plan ahead for any challenge you may experience in the middle of the night or in the day, making sure you have contingencies in place.  I’ll be coaching you moment by moment and right there with you as much or as little as you need.

I SUPPORT AND GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE JOURNEY

Allowing your child to learn a new skill, such as sleep, is both gratifying and terrifying.  It’s no secret, this is going to be hard on you and your partner.  You will never be alone. I support you how you feel most comfortable. Whether you’re a texting pro, a phone call kinda girl, or an email whiz. I’ve got your back in whatever way works best for you.

I like to compare this journey to swimming lessons. On your child’s first day, would you drop him off and say “figure it out hunny.” Of course not! Sleep training is no different than learning any other skill.  Your child is going to need you right by their side.  You’re never going to be far and they won’t have to learn without your love and encouragement.

I WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO MEASURE SUCCESS AND WHAT TO EXPECT ALONG THE WAY

As we embark on this new sleep journey together, I’m going to ask you what your goals are for your child’s sleep, in order of priority.  Along the way, we will refer back to these goals and see how far you’ve come.  The days you’re not feeling confident, I’ll encourage you to look and see the progress your child has made.

Every family has different goals in mind and as I’ve discovered, sleep is not “one-size-fits-all.”  A cookie cutter approach is not going to serve you or your child well.

What to Expect When You Work With Me

When your family decides that  I’m the right fit for you, I will start by guiding you through the whole picture of your child’s sleep and associated challenges. My take on sleep is a holistic approach, taking more than just the child in mind. I consider the family unit, environment, health and development of the child, awake windows, feeding needs, and the child’s personality and temperament. I’ll assess all of the pieces to your child’s sleep and come up with a plan. I’ll support you through these changes, you’re never going to feel alone.

As you get to know me, you will find that I’m a lot like you, deep in the trenches of parenthood with my own threenager and newborn. You’ll see that I understand where you are coming from because I’ve been there. I’m so passionate about sleep and believe that all parents should be living their best life, not just surviving. But seriously, coffee is not a food group.

It’s time to sleep all night, mama. Take showers, read books, watch TV – you deserve this and more!
